Hanging Strop - Roo Tail

A$150.00
sold out

This strop is made for the sharpening purist, although hanging strops traditionally meant for honing the burr on a straight razor before use they’re now a staple in the sharp edge enthusiast kit.

The hanging nature allows for just enough give at the apex that the wire burr enabling plastic deformation and subsequent burr break off.

The benefit of using roo tail is that even on high alloy wear resistant steels that produce very small and tough to remove burrs, the highly textured surface increases the total deformation the burr undergoes during stropping without using an abrasive that might introduce another burr; making it easier and quicker to remove those pesky fine burs that ultimately lead to premature edge breakdown

These are made to order, as not every tail is suitable and those that are suitable are a dime a dozen so if you want one, reach out.

Measuring approximately 90mm wide and 500mm long, adorned with brass rigging hardware and saddle stitched ends
